————Keep the party Rollin..——————-
Please post if you pick up what we are laying down
——————————————————————————————————-
y’know, i got this submission, and it’s great that you’re standing up for this dude, but I take a few issues with this.
1. the whole thing markets him as the “godfather” of raving. dude, no. He took something trendy, poured a whole bunch of money into it, and got some corporate sponsors like pepsi to back him while he rallied teenagers into a stadium to dance their asses off to artists who are contracted out by BMI. Is there anything wrong with that? no. not at all. We’re all together, having a great time. woo hoo. But to go as far as to say that he’s the “godfather” of raving is completely disrespectful to the scene and just shows how little people know about the history of these parties.
2. How is this helping? IDK who’s running this site, but it’s most certainly not insomniac. Are the profits from this going to pay his legal fees? (which, to get him out, are going to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars) I have a sneaking suspicion that this is going to line the pockets of some (well-meaning, but ignorant) ravers. I would like to know who’s running the site, and how many shirts they’ve sold, and where the money is going to.
3. you guys are supporting a guy who did something wrong. Yes, he throws great parties. Yes, he is running a (mostly) legit business that throws PLUR parties all over the place. Yes, his events and his company bring HUGE economic stimuli to whatever area he’s throwing parties in (Rockdale, TX, for example. They LOVE Insomniac.) Yes, he is probably a nice enough guy (donating 75k to a children’s charity last year after EDC Vegas? Nice slap in the face to Los Angeles, while simultaneously doing a really nice thing). BUT HE STILL DID SOMETHING WRONG. He entered into illegal business doings with stadium employees. He is not the only one accused of wrongdoing either. Who knows, it could have been the employee that brought it up, and Pasquale just jumped on it. It could have been a sneaky entrapment deal with the city. It could have been ANYHING. But guess what. It takes two to tango, and Pasquale still committed a crime.
What does this all mean? I have no idea. Frankly, I hope he gets acquitted, and gets out, and continues to throw parties. That would be great. BUT I’m not going to jump on a bandwagon of silly ravers who don’t do their research before plunking down $14.99 for a t-shirt -

thebaudelairetrain asked: I had my first rave experience in Italy in 1989. It was in a mansion. There were people shooting up in the toilets. It was absolutely fucked. I went to a massive rave nightclub that same year in Greece. Hundreds of people making the same move over and over and over to fuck awful doov doov. I RAN my own music venue in seattle in 94-95 and hosted a rave. It was fucked as well. Point is, the scene always changes and can always be good or bad. Your gen didn't invent them. AB
